Microbial Discovery
BioDiscovery has developed a world-leading capability in the discovery of beneficial plant-microbe associations and bioactive microbes for agriculture; this is evidenced by our collaborations and partnerships with some of the world's biggest agrochemical companies.
Through its proprietary high throughput technologies, the company is able to rapidly discover and characterise beneficial plant/microbe associations for a broad range of forage, row and tree crops.
BioDiscovery currently has a collection of >45,000 indigenous microbes each screened for bioactivity against a panel of 10 plant pests and diseases; this research is ongoing.
Central to BioDiscovery’s research approach is its ability to legitimately access the diverse ecosystems of New Zealand, one of the world's least exploited natural resources.
Contract Research
BioDiscovery operates contract research programmes and proprietary discovery programmes for microbial crop improvement and microbial natural products.
The cost of research in New Zealand is low compared to that in the U.S. and Europe, yet the quality of the science is first-rate. Partners are therefore able to realise an excellent return on investment.
