BioDiscovery New Zealand Ltd is a privately owned company based in Auckland and Wellington with additional staff represented in Napier.  BioDiscovery's objective is to extract value from New Zealand's biodiversity; the company's core activity is the discovery and development of beneficial plant-microbe associations.

BioDiscovery NZ Ltd was established in 1994 by three experienced research scientists resident in Auckland, New Zealand.  In 2001 the company expanded its capability to include a fully equipped natural product chemistry facility in Wellington.  This facility enables it to provide clients with novel, purified compounds that are biologically active against specified insect, fungal or nematode targets.

BioDiscovery funds its growth solely from competitive government research contracts and from partnerships with domestic and international companies.  The company currently employs 15 full-time research staff (including 8 PhDs).  BioDiscovery is wholly owned by two of the founding scientists.
