Bioinoculants and Bioprotectants
BioDiscovery has a broad-ranging capability for discovering and fully-characterising the bioactivity and chemistry of microbes with bioinoculant and bioprotectant potential.
We are currently working with key New Zealand-based forage genetics and nutrition companies to build upon New Zealand’s strengths in pastoral farming. The focus of this work is on developing products from endophytic microbes targeting nematode, insect and fungal plant pathogens of domestic forage crops such as white clover and ryegrass.
BioDiscovery has also had very promising results in a range of other pastoral and broadacre food crop systems subjected to a range of pest and environmental pressures. Such research has global applications, and we are seeking partners to further develop and commercialise these work streams.
Lead Discovery
Within our natural product lead discovery activities we partner agrochemical, nutraceutical pharmaceutical, and biotechnology companies with the capability to develop, and bring to market, products based on our lead molecules and extracts. Current project areas include agricultural fungicides, insecticides and herbicides, human microbial anti-infectives, and nutraceutical research and development.
